Dozens of Tufts undergraduate and graduate students are involved in the Tufts Chinatown Partnership each year. Courses and programs that connect students to the Chinatown community include:

  • American Studies 131: Civic Engagement in Boston’s Chinatown: Race, Class, Power and Politics;
  • Citizenship and Public Service Scholars program of the Tisch College of Citizenship and Public Service;
  • Community Service Selectives course of the Tufts University School of Medicine;
  • Field Projects course, Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning;
  • STOMP: Student Teacher Outreach and Mentoring Program in Chinatown;
  • and many other academic research, senior theses, internships or volunteer efforts.

The Tufts Chinatown Partnership is a core member of the Chinatown Intercollegiate Partnership whose members include Emerson College, the Harvard Phillips Brooks House Association, Suffolk University and Tufts University. Each year, the group plans a full-day educational orientation for students who have committed to working in the Chinatown community. Boston-area universities are invited to join and collaborate to advance stronger campus-community relations.
